That's the idea behind The Wideman Law Center, P.C.. Attorney Susan Goodkind Wideman has practiced elder law and estate planning in the Upper Peninsula for over 10 years. She's also served on the Boards of several senior-focused organizations like the Alzheimer's Association, Commission on Aging and Citizens for Better Care. From these experiences she could see that the seniors in our community had important needs that were not being addressed, but were closely related to the work that she and her staff were doing for their clients and clients' families. Attorney Wideman started her own law firm with the goal of addressing those unmet needs.
One unmet need The Wideman Law Center works to address is the coordination of professional services. Experience has taught Attorney Wideman that many of her clients frequently need more then well written legal documents and plans to protect their assets. They could also benefit from the input of other caring professionals such as psychologists, financial advisors, accountants, in- home caregivers and community services organization personnel, to fully address their issues and concerns. For this reason, The Wideman Law Center has developed a network of trusted professionals who work with us, when appropriate, to supplement our expertise in elder law and estate planning law. We call them trusted professionals because we know that each of them shares our philosophy of empowering our clients with knowledge, and helping them to maintain control of their lives.
The staff at The Wideman Law Centershares this philosophy as well. Legal Secretary Dawn Daugherty,Legal Assistant Cindy Laitinen and Medicaid Specialist Ann Richardson, are all knowledgeable, dedicated, and enthusiastic about their work.
Another major goal when setting up our law firm was to have an office that would support the physical capabilities and limitations of our clients and our staff. Attorney Susan Goodkind Wideman has an undergraduate degree is in Design and Environmental Analysis from Cornell University -- so she is very aware of how a person's environment is an important consideration when working to improve their quality of life and care. She designed our office to include firm supportive seating, ample lighting, adequate heating and cooling, and soothing colors. The office is completely barrier-free. Even the selection of our location in the easily accessible Orlich Center, a one story building with a covered entryway, was specially selected to benefit our clients. Attorney Wideman wanted to be sure that her clients didn't have to worry about finding parking, or using stairs. In fact, clients can drive right up to the office door if necessary.
We invite you to stop by our office to meet us and learn more about our legal services.
